Beijing Saturday

Everyone slept until 7:45. Amazing. Up, ready, and went to breakfast by 8:30. After we ate we checked out and went to the van. Our first stop was Schindlers Meat Market. Todd bought meat. Next stop was Jenny Lou's. We got a few Western groceries that we needed. Back in the van.

We went to the Silk Market next. This place has been completely redone since the last time we were there.  Much nicer and brighter and cleaner. Todd wanted to see if he could get another coat just like the one he got last year there. He found a store that had it.  They also had gloves for Cameron which he needed.  The girl working was funny.  After wheeling and dealing we got both things bought. As we were walking around the market we ran into Jessica and Jason. They were doing last minute shopping as well. Chatted for a few minutes then continued shopping.

Sharla sent me a message asking if I could buy her 10 boy and 10 girl wine covers. No problem. Found a shop that had them but the girl only had girl covers. After a big negotiation from Todd we were able to get them for close to what Sharla wanted (wanted 100 RMB we got them for 110). We walked to the next shop and found the boy ones. Todd told the guy we just bought girl ones for 10 RMB a piece (tiny lie but very close) so the guy just agreed. 100 RMB later we were done buying boy wine covers. So 20 wine covers for 210 RMB...good deal.

Last stop was Pearl Market. I did a quick walk through of purses but didn't see anything I liked enough to buy. We then tried to buy a tiny USB fan that you can put sayings on. We didn't end up getting one because the only ones they had were already pre-programmed with sayings. We want the kind you can put your own saying on. We went to the spot where Cameron's friend is. We have bought quite a few things from this guy and he really likes Cameron. We didn't buy anything from him but we bought a few ornaments and shot glasses from other stalls. As we were walking around we ran into Kevin, Kay, and Brad. Talked to them for a minute then continued on.

Out to the Toy Market. We bought two helicopters from our guy. He ended up giving us 3 extra sets of propellers for Cameron's helicopter. Him and the boys broke his shooting it out of the air with NERF guns. As we were paying we looked over and saw Megan and John. They had baby Mason with but left the girls in TEDA so they could Christmas shop. Chatted with them for awhile.

Grabbed Subway to eat in the van and headed home. We passed a wedding car on the road.  It was completely decked out with Teddy Bears all over it.  I'm not sure how they made them stay but they did.  So weird how the Chinese decorate cars.  We made it back to TEDA by 2:45.

As soon as we pulled in the parking lot the Hindman's were waiting for Cameron to play.  He ran inside, got all his snow stuff on, and played until 6:00.  We watched Monty Python The Holy Grail.  What a dumb movie.  Off to bed.
