78 Weeks, 12-12-12

Today is our 78th week living in China.  We have officially been out of the USA for a year and a half.  What a ride.

12-12-12 my Mom's 65th birthday. Zhu ni shengri kuaile. Happy birthday to you.

Todd was going to the airport so he was taking Cameron to school. I was going to have them drop me off at the gym. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door. It was Stine asking for a ride again. This time her driver was stuck in traffic. They didn't look too happy. No problem. They all piled in the van again but this time with Todd and Cameron and off they went. I didn't go and again didn't go to the gym because it was too cold to walk over there.

Todd called and said it was snowing pretty good in Beijing. He was thinking his flight might not make it out. He also thought Mr. Xue might not make it back to get Cameron if they closed the road. Wait and see.

At 11:40 Stine and I walked over to Ashanti. Last year for 11-11-11 a group of girls were in Beijing. Since 12-12-12 was on Wednesday, I thought I would organize a luncheon in honor of 12-12-12 and Moms BIG birthday. I sent out a mass text and e-mail last week. There were 31 of us at lunch. It was amazing how many people showed up. Anthony and his staff did a great job of taking care of us. It was very relaxing and fun. Friends just enjoying time together. At 12:10 Anthony sent a round of the number 12 shot on his list...Lounge Lizard. We had a count down just like it was New Years. At 12:12 everyone took a drink. It was very mild and not too bad. We ordered our food and had some great conversations. After lunch people started to leave. I stayed with LeAnne, Regina, and Heather. Regina just moved to TEDA so she had all kinds of questions. Her and her husband came from India so she thinks TEDA is like Heaven. She is a great addition to our "family" here.
One table of girls.

2nd table of girls.

3rd table of girls.

Pat, Megan, Erica, Amor, Me, and Regina.

No one noticed Birthday was spelled wrong until looking at pictures later.

My pals...Ileana and Rachel.

At 2:45 Mr. Xue picked me up and we went to get Cameron. He obviously made it back from Beijing. And Todd obviously made it to Harbin. Got Cameron and went home. He immediately put on all his snow stuff and went outside with Tobias and Dexter. He usually can't play until 4:00 but since the others were already out and he wasn't going to school tomorrow I let him go. He thinks I'm Mother of the Year...for now.

At 7:20 p.m. (5:20 a.m. At home) we called my mom and sang happy birthday to her in Chinese. She was pretty excited.

Got a text from my driver that said "Tomorrow there will be the item master to serve you". Huh? Next thing I got a text from Todd saying Mr. Xue broke his foot and we will have a sub driver. Oh great. We are off to the orphanage in the morning. Hope somebody shows up.
