Frustrating

I have been on a workout kick since getting back from the States.  I have been following a 5K training schedule and have been doing really well. Until today.  I went to the gym and started running.  My schedule was to run 2 miles today.  Easy.  WRONG!  I'm not big on running as it is but have been working through it.  Today, though, my legs were about 400 pounds.  Every single muscle from my hips to my feet HURT.  I felt like I was an elephant on the treadmill.  I made it a mile.  Walked for 2 minutes.  Ran another half mile.  Speed walked the rest for a total of 2.3 miles.  Pathetic.  I was frustrated and disappointed.

However, the whole family has thrown in doing the Nike Training "game" on the Xbox.  We all did the fitness test on Wednesday to see what levels we were.  That alone was difficult.  The "game" then gives each of us workouts based on our fitness goals and levels.  I did my first workout Thursday and literally almost died.  I couldn't believe how hard it was.  The good/bad part is you can't cheat even if you want to.  It will not count a rep if you do not do it correctly.

I watched Todd do his workout Thursday and he almost died too.  His exercises were different than mine and I have to admit his workout was even harder than mine.  He did great and I didn't have to call the paramedics.

I think I may be pushing this old, out of shape body too hard.  I may have to back off a little bit at least until I am in better shape.  I'm sitting in my chair as I type this blog and every muscle hurts.  I might not be able to get up the rest of the day.

Oh yeah...if you have an Xbox get the Nike workout "game".  It's awesome.
