Hit breakfast right at 6:30. There were two boys around the age of 9 messing
around. One wanted to just sit on a rock but the other kept bugging him. The
one hit the other, then another punch, then the other one punched the other.
They both were mad and walking inside to where their parents were when one boy
grabbed the other boys arms from behind then punched him in the back. He
yelled 'there, now we are even". But later in the day when we were talking
about the boys again Cameron said 'It was funny when he said 'now we eat' and
they went inside". Todd and I both started laughing and told Cameron he said
'now we are even'. Cameron said "Ah, that makes more sense. I thought it was
weird that they were going to eat after that". We think Cameron needs his
hearing checked.
We got in a cab at 7:45 to head to the zoo. We
bought our tickets to get in and took off walking. It was an awesome zoo. The
animals are in big, open, natural pens. In a lot of places we were trying to
figure out if the animals could get out if they really wanted. Obviously, there
were a few animals behind glass but their enclosures were still big and nice.
Such a cool zoo. We walked around for hours checking everything out. We rode
the tram a few times and took the boat ride twice. We mainly took the boat ride
to get a little bit of a breeze. While on the boat Cameron said he wasn't feeling very well. Then he jumped up like he was going to get sick over the side. Todd turned around to look at him and all of a sudden Cameron said "April Fools" and then sat back down with a big smile.

That is an ugly mole rat. |

He definitely got wet. |

These carvings were funny. |

This poor guys booty was gross looking. |

Taking in the boat ride. |
 |
Nice, pleasant ride. |
The coolest thing at the zoo was the
Fragile Forest. This was an enclosed walk through place. It was creeping me
out because there were bats flying around, Lemurs walking around, butterflies
everywhere, etc. I was sure something was going to land on me or get me.
Nothing did though. The first time we went in we all thought it was cool. We
were standing right next to the lemurs grooming each other. All of a sudden
Todd made a loud sound and at the same time Cameron started making noise. I
looked over at them and they were cracking up. I noticed Todd had something all
over his arm. A duck on a branch above us pooped all over Todd's arm and some
on Cameron's shoe. It was hilarious. We finished walking around in there.
 |
The lemurs were so cute. |
 |
The bats were not so cute and they were huge. |
 |
Todd just got pooped on by a duck. |
We went back to the Fragile Forest a couple hours later and it was even
more cool that time. The crazy bats were flying all over. We were up close to
bats eating fruit and a sloth eating a piece of corn on the cob. Then a bat
came flying in towards Todd...which made him jump like a crazy man...and landed
next to the sloth. He tried stealing his corn. It was cool but bats are not
cute to look at.
 |
This was neat and creepy at the same time. |
 |
This sloth was cool. |
 |
This was the bat that swooped in and scared Todd. |
We managed to walk through the snake house which is my least favorite place and then grabbed some ice cream for Cameron. We then left the zoo and took a cab to China Town. We went
to Maxwell Road Food Street. We found a table and Todd and Cameron went
exploring for food...after we made a lap through to look at the 75 or so booths
to see what was offered. They came back with a steak for me from a BBQ joint.
Then they brought back chicken rice and fish porridge for them. Oh, and oyster
cakes. Way better than I had expected. Todd loves eating in these sort of
places. Another stop where Anthony Bourdaine has been.
 |
Have I mentioned I hate snakes? |
 |
Ben and Jerry's treat. Yum. |

The plate they served my food on was awesome. |

Cameron's chicken and rice. |

Todd's Fish porridge. |
We then checked
out all the Chinese goods that were for sale because everyone knows we can't get
those in China. It was interesting though. We found a restaurant to hang out
in while a storm came in but it never did rain. We then walked through a couple
of mall type things before finding a store called Bee Cheng Hiang. We watched a
guy make what looked like beef jerky. We had to see what this was all about.
We ended up buying $40 Singapore dollars worth of bacon. We got one bag of
regular and one bag of spicy. I was a little nervous but it was delicious.
 |
Chinatown...here we come. |
 |
Stores full of Chinese stuff. |
 |
Enjoying a smoothie. It was suppose to be mango
but it was pineapple. Still drank it. |
 |
Time to make the jerky. |
 |
MMMMM, bacon. |
 |
A bag full of yummy goodness. |
We still had time to kill so we went back to the restaurant we were at
before. It was open air so we could sit and watch people. We had drinks and
bacon. Yum. Cameron tried another Mango smoothie this time with success.
Much happier with mango.
 |
The bacon was good. |
We jumped in a cab and headed back to the zoo
for Night Safari. It is a whole different zoo. It was situated in a
rain forest. It was another amazing attraction. We decided to walk the whole
thing first and then jumped on the tram and took that all around. We were so
happy we did both because we saw different things on both. Obviously we saw
some of the same things but a lot of stuff we saw on the tram weren't even in
the same areas we were.
 |
Entertaining ourselves in the cab. |

Entering the night safari. |
 |
Yikes! |
 |
Fire breathing show before the zoo opened. |
 |
Cute little guy. |
 |
Right before it got totally dark. |
 |
Taking a break on a zebra chair. |
It was 9:00, we had been gone for 13 hours, and
we were ready to go back to the hotel. We jumped in a cab and made the 40
minute trip back to Sentosa. Cameron almost feel asleep a couple times but he
made it. The cabbie asked us where we were from and when Todd answered America
he put in a cd that started off with the YMCA song which Cameron was doing in
the backseat. The cabbie thought that was pretty funny.
Back in the room and everyone took much needed showers.
We did a ton of walking and sweating again
today.
Awesome day.
