Took Cameron to school and did a workout with Rachel. I had a hat on my head
and it was hurting the top of my head from the bruises. Really weird having a
bruised head, especially from having bruises from washing hair.
Today was
reading day at school. K-2 was Eric Carle and 3-5 was Roald Dahl. Each had
specific things they could do or wear to make the day more fun. Cameron wore a
yellow short backwards, his shorts backwards with a belt he hated but needed to
wear to keep his pants up, one high sock and one low sock, and then wore his
shoes on the wrong feet. He was pretty happy with himself. I bought packages
of peanut M&M's for each kid in Cameron's class because they could take a
yellow treat (package is yellow) to share (that's Mr. Dahl's favorite color).
Cameron said the class was excited about the treat. 7th period they read books
with their reading buddies.

Hands in backward pants pockets, sweet belt,
nice socks, shirt on backwards...
and still cute. |

Is he coming or going? |

Alfredo just went with his shirt backwards. |
Sharla is getting ready to move back to
Canada which is so sad. She sent me a message
today to see
if I wanted some alcohol that she isn't taking back to use at the Halloween
party. That was nice of her. I'm sure someone will drink it. Not one thing I
would touch with a 10 foot pole out of everything she sent. ICK!
At
11:35 Sharla sent me a message that I needed to go to lunch with her and Stine.
I jumped in the shower and headed to Ashanti's with them. We had a great time.
Jessica met us too. We had a ton of laughs. I'm really going to miss
Sharla.

Taste testing Strawberry Daiquiris. Yum. |
So I really, really screwed up
today. I
planned a surprise birthday party for Ileana for
tonight. A
40-1 party. I will not be here next year for her 40th so I wanted to do
something special. Rachel was my accomplice. She made a squatty potty cake.
It was so cute that I wanted to send a picture of it to my parents.
Unfortunately I sent it to Ileana instead. As soon as I hit send I started
freaking out. It said "Here's a picture of Ileana's cake" so obviously she
would know something was up. As I was freaking out my driver looked at me like
I was nuts. I sent her a text begging her not to look at her email. Too late.
We got to school and she immediately asked me why I sent it to her. I said "oh
I meant to send it to my parents. Rachel made it for her mother in law but I
was going to have her make one for your birthday". She walked away and I was
freaking out on the inside. I found Rachel but she said Ileana already asked
her about it. That little Mexican is fast. Rachel told her she was going to
make it for Peter and Crista (the party we are going to this weekend). Oh
great. Now we have told her two different things. How do I cover this up? I
went over to Ileana and said "oh you were right she made it for Peter". Ileana
agreed and started talking about something else. Phew. I think we pulled it
off. She still has no clue this party is for her. Lessons learned...never send
out a picture early, always recheck who you are sending something too, and NEVER
tell a lie. It becomes a big weave of lies that is hard to keep straight.
Plus, I am the worst liar ever.

Ileana and I grabbed a cab to KTV at
6:50. I sent Rachel a message that we were 5 minutes away but she didn't get
it. We walked in KTV and all the girls were standing there buying snacks. The
look on all their faces was hilarious. Someone finally said happy birthday.
Ileana said "what? It's not my birthday". I whipped out a birthday hat and
sash and yelled surprise and happy birthday. She was still confused. I told
her I wanted to do something since I will miss her 40th and she was shocked. It
was cute. Up to the 9th floor and to our room.
 |
Here is the shocked birthday girl. |
There were 11 girls. Rachel
pulled out the cake and everyone had to take pictures. Once that was done
Rachel, Christina, and Ileana tried to figure out the machine with the help of a
worker who spoke Chinese. It took a few minutes but songs started singing and
girls started thinking they were rock stars. 2 hours flew by. Ileana sang her
favorite song...the theme from Titanic. She even acted like she was at the
front of the ship letting the wind blow in her hair. Too funny.

We picked Ileana up so she could be taller.
Had to strike a Chinese pose too. |
When our
2 hours was up we cut the cake. Pretty funny eating a squatty potty cake.
Rachel out did herself. It was delicious. We gathered up our stuff and headed
home. Christina offered to drive 5 of us home since we all live in Warner. We
got about half way home and I realized I forgot my coozie...the expensive
airbrushed one from Mall of America. Christina was nice to take me back. I ran
up to our room and tried to use my Chinglish to tell the man what I was looking
for. Luckily I had the coozie I took for Ileana to use in my hand as a prop.
The guy figured it out and took off running down the hall. He reappeared with
my coozie. Thank goodness. I would have been so sad if I would have lost that
coozie. It doesn't get to leave the apartment any more. I'm always taking
cruddy coozies from now on.
We drove home and I got in the apartment at
9:10. Sent Matthew home and put Cameron to bed. then off to bed for me too.
We had a great night with great friends celebrating Ileana's 40-1
birthday.
While I was gone Cameron stayed home with Matthew. It wasn't
very fun for him because Matthew had a ton of homework to get finished. Oh well
luckily Cameron entertained himself.
