After a pretty uneventful day we ended it by going to Ashanti to watch the Mexico vs. Brazil soccer game. They were playing for the gold medal. We weren't sure if we were going to go or not since the game started at 10:00 but Ileana said we had to go help cheer on her country. Ok, we'll go.
We met Carrasco's outside at 8:50. The Carrasco kids realized they didn't have their ds's so they went back inside to get them. Fredy called Ileana to say they couldn't find them. She went in to help look while we entertained Alejandro in the rain. It wasn't raining too hard. Finally everyone was ready to go. Alfredo still couldn't find his Ds and later we found out that Marcela's Ds didn't have a game in it. Silly kids.

Ready to go for our walk. |
We walked across the street to Ashanti. There were around 20 people in our group. I did not know most of them. We went because the Mexicans invited us. We did know all of them. Others must work with the guys or something. Almost everyone had Mexico clothing on. The Wallace's didn't have any so we used our imagination and went as the Mexican flag. Funny and brilliant if I do say so myself. Todd said it wasn't funny if I had to explain it but they all loved it.

The kids...Alejandro, Marcela, Alfredo, Cameron,
Manuel, and Melisa. |

This side of the table I knew. |
 |
Except for Scott, Manuel, and Cecilia I did not know anyone else
at this end of the table. |
Manuel ordered big plates of Seafood Paella for everyone to share for Cecilia's birthday. There were also pitchers of Sangria. Todd and I chose to have beer though. They had the game showing off the projector on to the big screen. After the first goal by Mexico everyone had to do a shot of Tequila. We were praying they didn't score again...Ick!

Here is the first shot. |

Fredy and Ileana LOVE Tequila. |
 |
Or maybe not so much for Ileana. |
At half time a big cake was brought out for Cecilia. We sang happy birthday to her in Spanish, English, and Chinese. She blew out the candles and proceeded to cut it and share with everyone. Cameron ate a piece and then we headed home. We watched the rest of the game at home. Mexico won their first gold medal in soccer 2-1. Good job Mexico.
