Although it is called a foot massage they work on arms, legs, neck, back, and head. When she did my back she put her knees in and pulled me over her legs. My back cracked and it felt so good. Then I looked over at Ileana and she was completely off the bed and in the air on the ladies knees. I started laughing. She was laughing. I thought the lady was going to put her up on her feet, like the airplane I use to do to Cameron when he was little, and start spinning her in circles like in the circus. It was hilarious. Ileana was shocked.
It was such a great morning with the girls. I love my days like this. Back home and finished packing for the weekend. We are headed to Beijing.
Left for Beijing at 3:20. We were making good time. We stopped at the rest stop to go to the bathroom and thank goodness we did. From there until after the spot where some cars have to get a Beijing permit, the traffic barely moved and at times we were standing still. Huge traffic jam. Finally cruising along again.
I called Todd to let him know we were 5 minutes away but he didn't answer. I called again and sent a text but no response. We were checking in when Todd called to ask where we were. He was in the lounge having drinks with "friends of mine from Moline and another work guy". I had no clue who he was talking about.
Cameron and I went to the room to drop our stuff off and hurried up to the lounge at 6:30. I was dying to find out who was there. I walked in and saw people Todd was talking to but I didn't know them. The girl gave me a big smile and said hi. I'm sure the look on my face was funny. I said hi and she said "I'm Valerie DeSmet". I instantly knew who they were. And once I heard the name I recognized her. She recognized Todd from the blog and asked him if he was related to me. They started talking. Then another one of my friends, Alicia from Teda, was there with her kids. She also recognized Todd and she asked if he was my husband. He finally realized I am a rock star. Haha
Valerie and her family went to St. Mary's church like I did growing up. I knew her as a kid but not as a grown up. My mom knows the family well. I knew they were moving to Beijing with our same company and that Valerie has been following our blog. My mom has talked to Valerie a few different times about China.
It was great to finally meet them. She has two girls, 6th and 4th grade. They are the sweetest, friendliest girls. They seem to like being in Beijing even though they are still in the hotel. We sat and chatted with them until 8:45. I have a feeling they are going to love their Chinese adventure as much as we do. They are all very outgoing, friendly people who seem to take things in stride. That's exactly what it takes to survive in a foreign country. It was so nice talking with them.
After the DeSmet's left we headed back to our room. We ordered room service (first time for that) and watched a movie. Everyone was in bed by 11:00.
