Oahu Then Off To Maui

Up and at breakfast by 6:30.  After we ate we jumped in the car and drove around Honolulu.  While driving around we stopped at Diamond Head Crater first.  We were at the look out not the actual crater.  It started to rain.  We looked for a rainbow but couldn't find it.  Back in the car and more driving.

Sleepy head.
Cameron with Grandpa and Grandma on the way to breakfast.

The Wallace's ready to eat.

The view from Diamond Head.

Ready to start this vacation.
Tom taking a picture of us.

The next stop was a park of some sort.  There were a few boats with 6-8 people in them that rowed by us.  There was a huge rainbow in the sky.  We finally found it.  Back in the car.

The boats we stopped to watch.

The rainbow was so big and pretty.

The sun was too bright.

Our next stop was a lookout.  We saw people there and thought there must be something neat.  We saw two girls quite a ways down and they were looking at a white blob.  We decided it was a seal.  At first we thought it was dead but then it started to move.  Cameron and I took a little walk and got closer to him.  We were right above him.  We couldn't figure out how those girls got down by him.  We were hoping he made his way back to the water after his nap.

The water was so neat to look at.

Cameron was wishing he could get in the water.

Loving the warm weather and sunshine.

One of the girls checking out the seal.
Next stop was the Halona Blowhole Lookout.  When we got out of the car we felt like we just stepped back into China.  There was a CTrip bus load of Chinese.  At least Todd's parents got a feel for the Chinese Culture...no personal space, pushy, etc.  It took awhile but we finally saw the blowhole.  Kind of cool.

Where are we?
Going to check out the Blowhole.

Cameron reading the map.

The blowhole doing its thing.

Forgot we were in Hawaii for a moment.

a picture of us.
We continued to drive until we came across a waterfall place.  We drove back and weren't sure if we wanted to go back to the waterfall but decided it was at least a good spot to go to the bathroom.  Cameron decided he needed to try the famous shaved ice treat.  He ordered banana.  We found a cool tree to sit under.  We looked through the gift shop but decided not to go back to the waterfall.  Back in the car.

Trying to look like he is wearing the crazy costume.

That was one big ice treat.

HUGE tree.
He was trying to figure out if he was going to be
 able to finish it.
We look little under this huge tree.
Back in the car and we continued on until we found the Dole Plantation.  The Hindman's told us about this place so we had to stop to check it out.  In the gift shop they had anything you could possibly want with a pineapple on it.  Grandma and Grandpa tried pineapple ice cream and Todd tried a chocolate covered frozen pineapple treat.  His fell apart and it wasn't worth it.  Cameron and I opted for corn on the cob.  We had wanted that since landing in Hawaii and they had a corn stand.  YUM!  We rode the train around the plantation.  It was pretty uneventful. Cameron and I then went in the World's Largest Maze.  It was a scavenger hunt as well.  We had to find 8 different metal boxes and sketch the shape on to our card.  Cameron figured out quickly if he looked through the maze and listened he could get clues as to where we needed to go.  We made it out in 38 minutes.  It was fun except when Cameron cut through places that were almost too small for me to fit.

Ready to check it out.

He's lucky I didn't eat him.

Oh delicious corn.

They enjoyed their ice cream.

The Wallace's in a pineapple.
Ready for a train ride.

Cute little engine.
Waiting to board the train.

Here we go.

Pineapple field.

Look what's growing.

Ready to get our maze on.

We continued driving around and ended up at Jack In The Box for lunch.  None of us had eaten there before and none of us planned to again.  It was just ok.  There were some strange people in the restaurant too.  One lady started singing out loud and she kept staring at Todd.  When she walked out she stopped in the doorway, stared at Todd, then walked out.  Creepy.

Back in the car and we drove to the airport.  We went to a bar/restaurant for a beer while we waited for our flight.  Hung out at the gate for a bit, loaded the plane, and made the 35 minute flight to Maui.

Michelob Ultra at the airport = delicious.

Once in Maui we grabbed the luggage and went to get the rental car.  Jumped in and drove to our hotel.  Much nicer hotel.  We had a big suite with full kitchen and then we had a regular hotel room connected to the suite.  So technically it was one huge joint.  The Wallace's know how to travel.

We went to dinner.  Cameron and I played pool while we waited for the food.  Another good meal. On the way back we stopped at Krispie Kreme Donuts so grandma could get her fix.  We ordered two dozen and the girl said if we waited 5 minutes they would be half off.  Of course we waited.  What a deal.  Back to the hotel and off to bed.

Waiting to eat.

Todd trying his spam sushi roll.

I kicked Cameron's booty in pool.

Tom and Judy eating some good grub.

Lots of yummy food.
