Soccer Tournament

Cameron had a soccer tournament at IST in Tianjin.  At 12:30 Todd, Ileana, and I were waiting in the parking lot at Cameron's school for the kids to load the bus.  Mr. Xue asked the bus driver where they were going so he decided not to follow the bus.

On the road and made it to the fields.  The bus arrived and the kids started warming up.  They missed Opening Ceremony.  None of the TEDA teams played in the first round.  There were not enough 3rd graders for a team so they moved some of the 4th graders down.  Cameron was one of them.  Of course he said it was because he was no good so he couldn't be on the 4th grade team.  Not true.  And at least this way he played the entire time of all 4 games.

The first game the kids were told to stay in position.  The problem with this was then there was one person on offense so they could not score.  Cameron and some others finally just started running down the field.  Cameron scored twice but for some reason the ref didn't count the second one.  Todd said it was clearly in.  Oh well.  They won.

The second and third games they lost one and tied one.  In the third game Cameron had to kick a penalty kick.  He was off on the side.  The other team was in position to block.  Cameron ran, kicked it and one of the players turned his back (thank goodness) towards the ball.  The ball hit him in the back really hard and knocked him down.  He didn't get back up for a few seconds.  It was pretty funny.  Luckily he was ok.

TEDA played in the champion chip game and lost.  The kids played great and were exhausted by the 4th game.  It was a nice day to be outside watching soccer.  After closing ceremonies we were on the road for home.
