Cinco De Mayo

Rachel and Ileana helped me organize a Cinco De Mayo party.  I bought a bunch of tableware for the even while I was home a couple weeks ago.  The coolest thing I bought was a Hot Chili Pepper Pinata.

Marcela was in charge of carrying the flowers we made.

Me, Rachel, and Ileana (my twin).

At 12:15 Todd and Fredy carried the ping pong table over to Building A so we could use it to set all the food on.  It worked perfectly.  We hung decorations and the flowers we made to decorate.  It looked very festive.

By 1:15 we had a lot of people and a lot of food.  Everyone ate and mingled.  It was a beautiful day...probably around 80 degrees and sunny.  Perfect.  There were so many kids running around and having a blast.  They were all filthy too.

Yum.

All kinds of good food.

The boys playing.

Herman, Cameron, and Alfredo eating lunch.

Todd and all his friends.

We decided it was time for the pinata. We hung it from a tree using twine Ileana had.  Little Samantha was the first to take a swing at it.  She was barely touching it but the string broke.  The pinata fell to the ground.  When I picked it up the bottom of the pinata was broke open.  Oh No.  We used tape and wrapped it around it to hold it together.  It worked.  However, the pinata fell out of the tree one more time.  All the kids had a turn.  We let the big kids start having more turns trying to get the pinata to break open.  I finally just grabbed one of the slits and threw the candy out.  The kids went wild.  I had another bag of candy.  I grabbed it and dumped it all around the back.  The kids sniffed it out.  At least this way everyone got a handful of candy.  Lots of excitement.

The kids lining up to whack the pinata.
Shocked I never got hit with the bat.  Look at the pinata though.
So cute.

We stayed out until about 5:00 then headed home.  It was a great day.  Cameron was having a little trouble breathing so he took a shower and took a breathing treatment.  We aren't sure if it is something in the air bothering him or what.  He felt better afterwards.

We skyped with both sets of Grandparents and then went to bed.
