Carrasco's Going Home

There was a knock at my door on Monday, May 20th.  When I opened the door Ileana was standing there.  She looked up at me and said "I have something to tell you."  Tears started to flow.  I was instantly nervous.  Here is the conversation:

I said "What is the matter?"
Her:  We are going home.
Me in an excited voice:  For the summer?
Her:  No, for good.
Me:  WHAT?  WHY?  WHAT HAPPENED?  (I thought something happened at home)
Her:  Fredy got offered a new position.
Me:  Oh my Gosh.

We then hugged a few times.  She continued to have tears.  But they were definitely tears of joy.  She was so excited.  So I started asking how this all came about. Come to find out when we were at the Hostel on Friday night for the Marathon Fredy got the call.  Neither of them slept Friday night.  They told me that but I figured it was because it wasn't comfortable...the same reason none of us slept.  But Nooooo, it's because they were nervous, excited, sad, lots of thoughts and emotions going through their heads.  Another good reason they both ran like maniacs on Saturday.  They were jacked up on excitement and adrenaline.

I can't even begin to say how excited I was for them too.  I was feeling bad because we were leaving and most of her other really good friends had already left China.  I felt like we were leaving them here alone...though there are still lots of others around and they would be fine.  But now we are both leaving.  Yippeeee!  Definitely meant to be.

She told me I couldn't tell anyone, even Todd, but I couldn't help it.  I had to call Todd.  I was about to burst.  When I told him she said I couldn't tell him he said "Who am I going to tell?"  He was in Harbin anyway.  Plus, anyone that knows Todd knows he doesn't talk to anyone about anything ever so I knew I was safe.

Now we know why their smiles were so big.  Definitely a happy girl
and family.
They told the kids on Tuesday morning.  Alfredo immediately sent Cameron an email and as soon as he saw him (Cameron rode with them to school that day) they talked about it.  I asked Cameron after school what he thought.  He said "That is awesome.  But does that mean they aren't coming to our house before Christmas now?"  Unfortunately, yes!  They were going to stay with us and shop in the Quad Cities on their way back to Mexico for Christmas.  Oh well.  We will meet them somewhere else instead.

So happy for the Carrasco Family.  But, we SURE will miss them.
