Sunday In Singapore

We were up early for breakfast. Back to the room to pack up and rolled out to go to the next hotel...Shengri La on Sentosa. Jumped in a cab and arrived on Sentosa. We could already tell we were going to LOVE this place. We checked in and a lady walked us to our room. It was nice. Nothing real fancy but there was a king size bed and a futon type bed already made up for Cameron.

Our home for the week.

Our view.

Our room.
Suits on. We found a washing machine and decided to throw in some of our sweaty, gross clothes. We then headed outside to check things out. We walked past the pool and out to the beach. We saw where we could rent a few water sports things, the flying trapeze, the Trapizza Restaurant, and the Mega Zip Line. We noted how and where to get on the tram that takes you all around. We headed back to the hotel for a quick dip. As we were walking Todd said "Look at this thing coming towards us". I looked around him and saw what looked to be the size of a Komodo Dragon. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration but it was a big lizard. Todd basically followed him into the trees to get pictures of him. Swam and Cameron got his first smoothie at this hotel.

The boys trying to figure out the washer/dryer.

What?  I can't feed my monkey.

The view from one side of the resort.
Our resort.

Siloso Beach is where our resort is.

The beach and hotel in the background.

We will zip this week.

Definitely eating at Trapizza.

One of the paths back to the hotel.

Here is the killer lizard we saw.

The pool was like bath water.

Delicious fruit smoothie.

Back up to the room to change and head out for the tram ride. We got on at our hotel and rode it the whole way down so we could see where everything was. On the way back we got off at one of the stops where a 7-Eleven was. We grabbed some supplies we needed and jumped back on the tram. When we got off at our hotel the boys decided to stop by the Hot Dog King to grab a snack...chicken cheese hot dog. Back to the room.

Riding the tram.

The boys moved up to get a little shade in this spot.
My family thought this was funny. That is a big bun
in the bag though.  We would like a hamburger for that bun.

NO, DON'T FEED THE MONKEYS.
This is the exact car Cameron put in to compare the Explorer and
Navigator with.  He thought it would be a great family car when we get home.

We decided to go do the Mega Zip Line. As we walked outside we heard some thunder. As we walked past the pool they had cleared it because of lighting. We stood there talking trying to decide what to do...should we wait or go. We decided to go. We walked down and paid. There was a HUGE boom of thunder which felt like it was right on top of us. We had to wait 15 minutes to go until the thunder passed. It also rained for about 15 minutes. We got to the top and there were 3 runs. We all got to go together. It was really high. They put us on the outside of the gate...hanging. Then the 3, 2, 1 count down and we were off. Cameron yelled "so long suckers" but Todd and I left him in the dust. Lighter people go slower. It was fun. We bought the picture of the 3 of us going down.

Cameron getting his gear on.

Waiting out the rain.

We zip to the island below.

Todd is ready.

The picture of the 3 of us zip lining.
We landed safely at the bottom.

Walking across the water to get back to the beach.

Posing with the hotel in the background.

Made it to the beach.

We stopped by Trapizza to order food. Two pizza's, chef salad, and a meat platter thing. We took it all back to the room. It was pretty good. After eating we went to the pool. It was bath water warm. I liked it but Todd said it was too warm and it wasn't refreshing. Back to the room. Tv and bed.

This sticker was on the pizza box.

Saturday In Singapore

Up at 6:45 (yep, even though we went to bed at 1:15). We got ready and went to breakfast. It was a wonderful buffet with all kinds off good food. We then grabbed a cab and went to Tree Top Walk. It was in the McRitchie Reservoir. We got dropped off at the starting point. We were greeted by some monkeys. Most of them were carrying babies. They were so cute. We started the hike. It was on a path through the very thick forest. We walked for 7.2km round trip. The paths were dirt, rock, stones, up hill, down hill, steps, and boardwalk. Once at the top we were on a 1.5km suspension bridge that went through the middle of the forest. We made our way back down. It was hot and humid. We were all sweating horribly. Todd was carrying the back pack too which made him hotter. He literally rung out sweat from his shirt it was so wet. GROSS! My tank top was soaked only in certain places. Todd and Cameron kept calling it boob sweat because it was wet basically everywhere but around my boobs. It was pretty embarrassing but there was nothing I could do about it.

Not even close to the top and you can see our
sweat beginning to appear.

On the suspended bridge.

It was very thick with trees.

More steps.

The view.

We jumped in a cab and the cabbie took us to Little India. The cabbie was quite entertaining. At one point he told us if we bought him a drink he would tell a story. Funny thing is we still got the story without buying a drink. It kind of sounded like he had already been drinking or maybe he was just a little crazy. We got out of the cab and Todd said "man, the seat is soaked now from me sitting on it". We looked back at the cab and the guy spotted the wetness (they were leather seats at least). He got out and looked in the back. He then got back in. We started walking because I was afraid he was going to come after us. I told you we were sweaty. We hit 7-Eleven first for water and pop. Into the shops. Todd got himself a new watch. We then walked around outside Little India. All kinds of shops and restaurants. We found Banana Leaf Apollo which is where Andrew Zimmern went on Bizarre Foods. We just HAD to get fish head soup. We also got two different kinds of chicken dishes and two kinds of bread. Overall it was ok. The boys thought it was awesome. I wish you could have heard them eating the soup. They were in heaven. Todd even got crazy and ate the eyeball. GROSS! He said there was a nut or something hard in the middle. Again...GROSS! Cameron wanted to eat the other eye but it was missing. And, in Indian restaurants you eat on giant leaves and use your hands. It kind of grossed me out watching others. And, they only eat with one hand.  And, it isn't the hand that they wipe their bottom with.
Little India.

Pretty funky building.

We found the restaurant we wanted to try.

Posing with their fish head soup.
Notice the big leaf to eat on.

Looks delicious doesn't it?  Look at the teeth.

We then went into another market that had all kinds of restaurants in a food court sort of looking thing. The smell was a little icky but not as bad as I had thought. Overall Little India was quite enjoyable. We went to another 7-eleven to get drinks to take back to the room. Jumped in a cab and went back to the hotel. The boys jumped in the pool to "shower" and cool off. The pool area was really nice. I didn't get in only because we were heading back out to check out Orchard Road. I didn't want to have to get ready again. Back up to the room. Boys changed and we went exploring.
Ready to check out Orchard Street.

We walked up one side of Orchard Street and back down the other. There were huge malls everywhere and most were connected to several other malls. It's so confusing when trying to find a specific store. We found a Toys R Us store. Cameron found a NERF gun but decided not to get it. We went into a fish spa...the place where fish chew on your feet...but it was $30 for 30 minutes. We decided 30 minutes was way too long. We continued down the street. We found the Pandora store. I wanted to get a Buddha charm for my bracelet. It was a bit more expensive than the one I could get at home but we figured this way it could be my Asia souvenir. He's really cute. We also hit the Harley Store and Lego Store. Cameron got a couple cars to build. He was happy.
Toys R Us.

Signs do not lie.
We thought this guy was neat.

This sign grabbed our attention.

Hey, Sexy Lady.

I got myself a charm from Singapore...
Buddha.  My Asia souvenir.

Found a Lego store so we had to buy something.

We went to dinner next. We decided to go to Black Angus. I had the double prime burger with bacon and cheese. Delicious. Cameron had a different burger and Todd had prime rib sandwich. That place was well worth the trip. As we were sitting there it started to rain. It rained for about 15 minutes and that was it. We weren't even finished eating before it quit. Perfect timing.
On our way to dinner.  Our hotel is in the background.

Cameron with his delicious smoothie.

After dinner we went back to the hotel. We decided to try out the pool for awhile. It was nice. We hung out there for about a half an hour and then went back to the room. Cameron showered and started building his Lego's. Todd and I ran to the lounge for a little bit. He had very specific rules in order to stay in the room. He thinks he is cool when we let him stay. The lounge was packed. They do not let kids under 12 in and now we understood why. Too many people will access to the lounge. Not enough room for everyone and kids.

Back to the room, a little tv, and off to bed. We were all tired from the lack of sleep and from all the hiking and walking.
