Rainy Cebu

It rained over night. It kind of cleared up when we went to breakfast at 7:00. We walked around the resort and went back to our room. At 8:00 Cameron and I went out to the beach while Todd watched the Illinois basketball game. It was drizzling again.

10:00 we jumped in the car we rented for the day with our driver, JoJo. We were off to Papa Kits. It was suppose to have zip lining, ATV's, fishing, etc. it was about 45 minutes away. The closer we got the harder it rained. We drove through Papa Kits but didn't stop since it was pouring. We went to the middle of Cebu City. We went to SM Mall. This mall has more security than anything I had ever seen before. We walked through a metal detector going on and they check bags if you had one. Crazy. We walked around there, found a football for Cameron, and Todd and Cameron ate Greenwich pizza. We have satellite tv from the Philippines in china so we see the commercial for Greenwich all the time. Todd had to try it. He ordered a solo pizza and a double pizza. The solo was about 10 total bites for Todd. It was so cute and little. Maybe the size of a Little Joe from Happy Joes. We found the car.

This was the double pizza.

This is the solo.  Todd held it up trying to make it look bigger.
He said that was an old fishing trick.

It had quit raining so we decided to go to the Crowne Royal hotel. It has activities on the roof to do. We got there and were told they didn't start until 2. It was 1:15. We could see a 4d movie though. Cameron chose the UFO movie. We went in and the girl gave us our glasses. The movie started and Todd asked if our glasses were working. Umm, not so much. The movie was really, really dumb. But,the dropping of the seat, puffs of air in the face, shaking of the seat, and water squirting at us was pretty funny. The movie was only 15 minutes long.

We waited until 1:50 and went to the counter for the roof activities. The lady told Todd they wouldn't be running anything because it was raining again. Oh man. We decided to leave and not wait it out since it has rained for everything we wanted to do so far. Back in the car and back to the resort which took about 45 minutes. On the way we were at a stop light. We noticed people walking between cars selling things like hats, sunglasses, bobble head dogs, etc.  A little boy, maybe about 6, came up to the window, with his head against it, saying something, and just staring at us. We were assuming he was asking for money. I felt so bad. Then his sister was doing the same thing next to him. I wish I would have given them something. Poor kids. Though I guess we saw this all over and I couldn't give every one of them something.
This is how people travel in Cebu.

Cameron checking out his Gatorade in the back of the car.

I wanted to ride in one of these vehicles.
They were all over Cebu.

We put our suits on and went out to the beach. It quit raining and the sun was trying to poke out. Cameron and I rented paddle boards and Todd got a kayak. We headed out. The guy told me it was harder for adults to do the paddle board because kids could balance better. I still tried. I paddled out on my knees so I could get the feel for it. When I decided to try to get up I made sure no one was around me in case I fell. I stood up and was a bit wobbly but I didn't fall. However, the first stroke I tried to make I fell in. Pulled myself back onto my board and paddled. My feet were getting cramps from sitting on them so I just sat on my booty with my legs straight out. It worked great. I got to where I needed to be again and stood up. This time I was up for a long time before falling in again.
I'm ready to try.

Going out to deeper water.

Whoa.

Todd traded in his kayak for a paddle boat. It was a little more comfortable. Cameron and I paddled around for at least 30 minutes. I was getting tired. Todd got some pictures of Cameron and I together and then I paddled to shore. My arms and legs were tired.
We both went down at the same time.

Up and looking professional.

Paddle boarding is fun and exhausting.

We all returned our equipment. Cameron took a break with a banana smoothie then played in the sand for a little bit. All of a sudden it started pouring again. We walked to the room. I showered and we went to the lounge. There were some tasty snacks to eat. We were suppose to have a Filipino dinner and show to go to but it was pouring bad. One of the girls in the lounge told us they moved the show to one of the ballrooms. We ran to the room to get the cameras and headed to the ballroom. We got there and it was pitch black.
Drink time.

We decided since it wasn't raining anymore they must be having it outside again. We went to the restaurant and sure enough they moved it back there. We were seated right in front of the stage. It was a Filipino buffet. They brought in a whole pig and had all kinds of Filipino food. It was delicious. The drinks were buy one get one free. Cameron was just about done with his second smoothie when our waiter brought him another one. He didn't know someone had already brought him one. He had 3 banana smoothies at dinner. We all ate too much. The entertainment started. There were Filipino traditional dances and singing. It was pretty cool.
Searching for the dinner show.

At dinner.

Cameron is ready for some pork.

Trying to get the meat out of the crab legs.

The Wallace Family enjoying dinner and a show.

There were dancers.

This guy did some dancing too.

These ladies were very pretty.

The last dance was with these huge sticks that the guys and girls jumped over and through. It was cool. When they were finished they went into the crowd and grabbed people to try the stick dancing. Cameron was chosen again. He did great. He only got his foot closed in the sticks once. I love that he doesn't mind being on stage doing things like that.
Cameron is blurry but he is jumping through and over the sticks.

After the show we went back to the room to watch Bourne Identity. Then off to bed. For the day being full of rain we still had fun and got to see a lot of Cebu. It reminds me of Jamaica with the huts and stores all along the roads.
