Sunday in Bali

Sunday..Breakfast was delivered at 7:00. We have never had breakfast in a hotel room before.  King Wallace was going to have it in the bathtub but decided on his bed (couch) instead.  He thought he was pretty cool.
The man who brought our food.

So much delicious food.

Cartoons and breakfast...life is good.

Antoro, our tour guide, picked us up at 8:00.

Antoro is a great tour guide.

We headed to the elephant safari.  We decided on an hour ride.  We walked up to the loading spot and Todd and Cameron got on their elephant Gandhi.  I got on my own elephant named Elsa.  We were sitting on benches on the back of the elephants.  Gandhi stopped to get fruit along the way.  He also broke off some bamboo.  Elsa liked grass.  She is easy to please.  We saw wild monkeys in the trees above us.  After trekking around the jungle we headed back to our starting point.  My driver told me to trade spots with him and get on Elsa's head.  I said "Are you sure?"  He said yes so I moved down.  It was crazy sitting on her head.  I kept feeling like I was going to fall off. My guide kept telling me no one had ever fallen off...until today.  Then he would laugh.  We went in the water so our elephants could get a drink.  Both of our elephants squirted water.  Our elephants stood on a stump, sat on a stump, and Gandhi reared up on his back legs with Cameron riding on his head.  They dropped Todd off so Cameron could ride on the head.  So cool. We loved it.

Elephants getting a bath.

Cameron is ready to ride.

This is Gandhi.

The guys are set.

This is Elsa.

Her hair on my feet felt weird.

We are on the move.

My guide.  He was nice but kept dropping hints for a tip.

Cameron is loving it.

We saw wild monkeys in the trees.

My guide jumped off to take pictures.

Elsa's eye.

The jungle.

We got passed by quads.

We passed through a village.  A lady came running down the road with her baby yelling hi after we passed by.

A lady doing her laundry.

Another lady doing laundry.

Cameron is now riding on the head.

WHOA!!!  Gandhi popped a wheelie.  Huge smiles from Cameron.

Best time ever.

Once we were all safely back on the loading dock we bought watermelon so Cameron could feed Gandhi and Elsa.  Gandhi wanted it in his trunk so he could put it in his mouth.  Elsa opened her mouth wide so Cameron could put it on her tongue.  It was awesome.

Elsa is taking a rest after that long walk.

Open wide Elsa.

In it goes.

Gandhi likes it in his trunk.

A few in the mouth.

Cameron then fed the monkeys.  One was definitely the boss.  He would push the other out of the way until he got his food.

They were so cute.

Love watermelon.

Hanging and eating.

Big hands.

We then went inside to look at our pictures.  Inside there were 2 little orangutans wearing diapers.  Of course we had to pay for Cameron to hold them.  So cute.  We got a bunch of cute pictures.  The one rubbed Cameron's head like everyone does.

Rubbing Cameron's head.

They were separated at birth I think.

The trainers/handlers.

Hey, I got a monkey on my back.

These guys really made Cameron laugh.

So sweet.

Shaking hands.

Then he kissed it.  Awwww.

A wild monkey decided to come take a look.

We grabbed a little lunch then headed to the volcano.  We sat at a restaurant on the edge staring at the volcano, Mount Batur, and Lake Batur.  We had a beer and juice then decided to try fried bananas and pineapples.  Weird tasting.

Little shops like this all over the streets of Bali.

Taking a rest on the way.

Mount Batur and Lake Batur.

Sitting on the edge.

The boys in deep conversation about the volcano.

Told all about the volcano.

A really spiky plant that was cool.

Mount Batur last erupted in 2000.

Fried pineapples on the left.  Fried bananas on the right.
A little boy asked Todd to buy postcards on the way in and Todd told him maybe on the way out.  Well once we were outside again the little boy asked Todd again.  He kept telling him no but the boy wouldn't stop.  He said it is good luck for him if Todd bought them.  Still no.  Then he said "But you told me maybe on the way out".  This made Todd feel bad so he bought them.  Boy, that little boy was good.  Cameron and I were watching from inside the van.

Sweet little boy who worked Todd over.

Of course he is all smiles.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped to look at rice terraces. We got out of the car for pictures and were bombarded with people selling stuff.  Oh my goodness it is worse than being in China.  They do not know the words no thank you.  Plus they start off by saying "one dollar" but then when you bite they say something way more.  Our driver warned us before hand.  Bought some cool stuff though.

Outside one of the shops.

Rice terraces.

As soon as Todd was interested in something a crowd gathered around.

So impressed how they can carry things on their heads.

More rice terraces.

Up close look.

Relaxing and enjoying a drink.

The long drive back to the hotel was interesting.  Lots of stuff along the road to look at. Drivers on mopeds and motorcycles are crazy.  Tons of them all over and weaving in and out of traffic.  4 people on them too.  Mom and dad have on helmets but not the kids.  Why?  Law is wear helmet but if people are dressed in Balinese traditional clothing they do not have to because cops assume they are going to the temple.

Man selling ape masks on the road.

Mopeds everywhere you look.

Mom and dad have helmets but not the kid.

Once back to the hotel we went to the lounge, played more UNO  and then dinner at Rin...Japanese restaurant.  I ate Cameron's food off the kid menu and he ate sashimi, sushi, and adult meal of pork belly.  Him and Todd love this kind of stuff.  I was fine with the kid menu of spaghetti.  Back to the room for a little television then off to bed.

This cheese cake had corn in the middle of it.  Odd.

Ready for dinner at Rin.
