New Water Park

We went to breakfast and then I met Ileana at the lounge desk at 9:00.  We had one of the girls help us get discounted tickets to the new water park in Eco City.  She said it was no problem.  She got on the site and ordered 2 tickets...without asking us how many.  When she saw the 700 rmb sitting on the desk she finally asked how many tickets we needed.  When we said 7 she said "Oh, I only ordered 2.  I will order 5 more".  We didn't know she had already ordered since we couldn't read the screen.

When the girl was done Ileana had a couple text messages.  Once at the water park she just had to show them the texts and we would get the tickets.  Awesome.  Back to our rooms to get our stuff and then we headed out.

Ileana went to pick up Marcela while Jessica and her kids followed us to Banjingwon to get Megan and the girls.  Ileana met us there.  We all headed out.  We arrived at the park at 10:15.  To say it was busy would be an understatement.  We walked into the guest services office to get tickets.  Ileana was handed two tickets quickly.  In order to get the other 5 it took 50 minutes, numerous phone calls trying to talk to someone at the Renaissance, and Me and Ileana being ticked off.  At one point there were 7 people "helping" her.  The most annoying part was the Chinese workers.  They were laughing at us and going through Ileana's text messages and emails.  She finally grabbed her phone.  Chinese people have no filters or etiquette.  It gets very annoying.

Walking to the park.

At the entrance.

Two Superman boys.

The problem was the 5 ticket order didn't have a confirmation number on the email. We couldn't get tickets until we had that.  Once we did get the tickets Ileana told the main lady helping us she was going to walk us to the front of the line and let us in.  There was a huge line waiting to get in which we never did figure out why all those people were standing there. She agreed and that was what she did.  Once inside a Chinese guy tried to follow us in.  He got grabbed by a guard.  There was yelling and pushing.  He finally went back out in line.  We had to stand there while the lady went and got some different kind of ticket for us before we could get playing.  The whole thing made us all mad and was crazy.

Still waiting.

Finally we were free to explore.  Everyone had to walk through a spraying entrance with mid calf high water.  Dumb.  This was the only entrance.  It was dirty with wrappers floating and it smelled. We all made it through.

We walked around until we found a spot for the kids to play.  Since we had little kids with us we parked our stuff by the kiddie pool.  We couldn't believe there were no chairs or anything to put our stuff.  We found a rock to put our stuff by.  Little kids went in.  I took Cameron, Alfredo, and  Marcela with me.  We hit the flow rider first.  It was a surfing simulator thing.  There was a news crew filming the anchor guy trying to surf.  He was terrible and it took about 20 minutes for them to get the shot they wanted.  Finally the rest of the line could go.  It was hilarious watching the Chinese people trying to surf.  They had no clue.  One guy lost his entire mankini.  So many laughs watching.  Cameron finally went and so did Alfredo.  Their turns were pretty short and they were bummed they waited that long for what they got to do.  Marcela decided not to try it.

The news reporter we had to wait for.

Cameron waiting for the surf board.

Ride it Cameron.

Alfredo taking a turn.

Off to the racing water slides.  Holy long lines.  Nobody wanted to wait that long.  Off to the wave pool.  The waves weren't going on but the kids were at least in water.  They decided to go to different water slides.  Too big for Marcela so she waited with me.  The boys ran to the line.  They came back mad.  The film crew was there now and they weren't letting anyone ride and there was huge lines. The kids were very disappointed.

Off to the lazy river.  Cameron grabbed a tube but a life guard told him no.  There was no one around who could help figure out how to get tubes.  It was frustrating.  The kids decided to go in without tubes.  Others were in without also.  It was so jammed packed with people that it wasn't any fun.

I met them back at the little kid section.  They were complaining, I was complaining, and
Megan was complaining.  Megan tried to get bottled water but in order to do that you had to have a wristband with money on it.  They wouldn't take cash.  Oh geez.  We had all about had it.  It was 12:30 and we talked about leaving.  I sent Mr. Xue a message asking him to come at 1:15.

The kids took off to a different kid section.  It had 2 slides and some spray things.  All of the kids played there for hours.  Finally the kids were having fun.  We didn't want to make the kids leave now that they were finally laughing and playing.  Another message to Mr. Xue telling him to come at 3:30.

I had 100 rmb in my hand so I told Ileana I would try to get a wristband to get water.  We had all ready drank all that I had brought (2 gatorades and 6 waters).  Off I went.   Through the nasty water entrance thing to the wristband line.  When it was my turn of course no one spoke English.  The girls just laughed.  I used my translator...more laughs.  Finally one girl told me I needed 200 rmb to get a wristband.  You have got to be kidding me.  Back through the nasty water entrance, all the way back to my bag, and grab more money.  I walked back to the nasty water entrance and back in the wristband line.  My turn...more laughing.  By this point I was so irritated and tired of dealing with Chinese people.  My nerves were shot.  Luckily a guy who spoke some English came over to help me. No problem.  He took my 200 rmb and handed me a wristband.  FINALLY!!

Back through the nasty entrance water again.  I found a water stand.  4 bottles and I found all the girls.  They were all so happy to have water.  That only took 45 minutes.  Ugh!  It shouldn't have been that difficult.

2:00 I made Cameron get out and find some shade.  Ileana made her kids too.  Shade, snacks, drinks, and more sunscreen.  2:15 they were off again. They headed to play on the lily pads.  Ileana and I were discussing the time and realized 3:30 was still a long time away.  We decided 3:00.  Another message to Mr. Xue.  Poor guy had to think I was crazy.

Alfredo falling.

Cameron and Alfredo had a blast here.

What in the world????

I was trying to get all 3 standing but we couldn't get it.

3:00 back through the nasty entrance water one last time.  We found our vans and headed home.  We all decided this water park could be a great idea if it was in a different location.  There were many slides and areas not opened yet which caused huge lines everywhere else.  The worst part was all the adults going down the kiddie slides.  They were pushing little kids out of the way.  They had no business being in that area.  We had to try it before leaving TEDA but we all said the water park in Tanggu was much better.

Home and showered.  We hit the lounge.  At 6:30 I met Ileana to walk to Ashanti's for ladies night. Todd and Cameron watched the 3rd Die Hard movie while I was gone.  For dinner it was me, Ileana, Stine, Megan, and Mette.  Jessica snuck over a little later to have a few drinks with us.  These girls are the reason I will miss China.  As we were sitting there Fredy and Alejandro walked in with flowers.  Ale walked up to me and said "These are for you" and then gave me a hug.  Such a sweet boy and family.  Always an awesome time with many, many laughs.  Ileana and I walked back to the hotel around 11:00.  Off to bed.

Ileana, Me, Stine, Megan, Trine, and Anthony with some shot he made us.

Beautiful flowers.
