Seoul--Day 1

Mr. Xue was suppose to pick us up at 5:30 to take us to the airport in Tianjin so we could fly to Seoul, Korea. We walked out and he wasn't there. Todd called him. Mr. Xue said Todd told him afternoon not morning. Todd doesn't think so but it is possible so he didn't argue just told him to come immediately. Around 6:00 he came flying in. Drove fast to the airport and I'm pretty sure we made it in record time.

Checked in and went to the lounge to wait. Loaded the airplane and made the hour and a half flight to Seoul. They served us lunch...beef and noodles or fried chicken. Cameron and I got chicken and Todd got beef. We took one look at the chicken and there was no way we were eating it. Todd traded with Cameron. Todd ate the chicken nugget looking things and the hash brown but poked the chicken wing looking thing that was pink and said "I don't even know what this is.". Gross.

That redish/pinkish thing is suppose to be chicken.  I don't think so.

Found our driver from the hotel, hit the bathroom, and drove 45 minutes to the Courtyard Marriott Times Square, checked in, got an upgrade, and headed to our suite. It's pretty nice. Went looking around.

This is in the bathroom at the airport.  What is it for?

We are in Seoul, Korea.  Cool.

Ready to start our vacation.
There was a Reebok competition going on at our hotel.

We were connected to a huge mall. We walked through parts of the mall to see what there all was.  We found an ATM so we could get money and then found a convenient store to buy drinks and beef jerky nuggets (Cameron was in heaven) then ordered pizza from MoMo's restaurant in our hotel.

Grandma Janet would be happy here.

Grandma Judy would be happy here.

Cameron asked "Where's the big apple?"

This is Cameron's nick name.

Almost bought an I Love Freddy shirt for Ileana.
Grandma Janet would have wanted to keep these pizza boxes.  Really nice box.

We ate then headed out to restaurant street to look around. Cameron and Todd bought some street food. No clue what it was but they both said it was good. It was served in a plastic bag...classy. We walked down some back streets.  There were a lot of Korean BBQ restaurants and places with fish tanks outside where you can pick your meal. Of course we saw a McDonald's too. Checked out the subway system then headed back to the hotel.

The girl next to Cameron ran up and hit the lion in the head.

Checking out some fruit.

Dried squid in a bag...Yum.

These are some big beers.

They thought some of the street food looked interesting.

The lady gave Todd a sample.  No idea what it was.

No idea what this was either but they ate them all.

The back streets of Seoul.

Machines along the road.  This one you could grab food in a tub.

Neat streets.

Cameron tried to steal the McDonald's moped.  These are much faster than the Chinese version.

Went to the lounge for snacks and drinks. Cameron was so excited when they brought out clams. He had about 20. Lots of other good food too. Cameron worked on IXL which is a computer math program from school and then we played Skip Bo.

Working on a school math program.

This kid loves clams.

We walked across the street to a Korean BBQ joint for dinner. Sweet people working and they took good care of us. Very, very good. Much better than the Korean BBQ places in china. After we were stuffed we walked back o the hotel. Watched a little tv then went to bed.

Yummy Korean BBQ.

Look at that meat.

Chewing on the bone like Grandma Janet.

Good first day in Seoul.
