Started the morning with a meeting with the principal and 5 other moms to discuss the school calendar. It was a pretty uneventful meeting and I'm sure nothing will change. She wanted some suggestions on how to make the calendar better. I have an idea...don't change the dates 5 or 6 times throughout the year. That is how it can be better.
After the meeting I went back to the apartment where the super sisters (as Cameron calls them) were getting ready. At 10:45 we went to Chinese lessons. We met with Febe for an hour. There was a lot of chatting and laughing. We didn't learn any Chinese while we were there. I did have her call my old driver, Mr. Hu, to ask him to come pick up a birthday present my mom brought for his son. She already had it bought before he had to quit. He said he would meet me at the apartment at noon. Fine.
Mom brought her list of words that Febe gave her in October. |
Mom's a pro. Febe informed us she was wearing the same shirt as when my parents visited in October. She has a picture hanging in her office. Funny. |
We had Mr. Xue take us home. On the way Mr. Hu sent me a text saying he was at the apartment. When we pulled up Mr. Hu was standing outside his car. Here comes the awkward part. Mr. Xue made a noise like huh? and said Hu? Oh no...I felt like I had to explain why he was at my apartment. I held up the present and said it was his sons birthday present. We got out and Mr. Xue rolled down the window so he could listen to our conversation. Unfortunately, we communicate with our phones so there wasn't much to hear. Mr. Xue thought it was hilarious that we both pulled out our phones. I said out loud "come back" to Mr. Hu then realized I said it out loud. It was one of those moments where I was hoping Mr. Xue didn't understand English. Oh well. I told Mr. Hu we missed him and he said he missed us too. Everyone should be proud because I did not cry. I have accepted the fact he is gone. After they both left the 3 of us laughed and rehashed the whole thing and then I felt a little bad for Mr. Xue. Who knows what he was thinking.
We walked over to Wei Ha for lunch. We passed Rachel on the way. She said she was suppose to eat with Claudia but she had to go pick up her son who was sick. We invited her to eat with us so she did. When we got in the restaurant Liz and Heather were there too so we all ate together. Another good lunch.
We walked back home where the ladies read for an hour and then we went to school to get Cameron. We were an hour early so we watched him play soccer. It was a great day to be outside. Back home. First thing Cameron needed to do was wash his face and hands. I have no idea how this kid gets so dirty at school. His face looked like someone painted it.
Such a dirty boy. |
Cameron did his homework and then we went outside to play. First we played badminton. Oh my goodness was this hilarious. As soon as we set up the net the guard from the apartment came over to watch. Ileana's driver, Leo, got out of the van to watch. The ladies were having some trouble hitting the birdie. We were all laughing. Ileana's dad came out and started watching. Next thing he was belly laughing hard. The more my mom missed trying to serve the more she was laughing and the more he laughed. Which caused everyone to laugh harder. Then Cameron served it right into mom's cheek. Then everyone was dying laughing. Ileana's dad went back inside and then they all came out. They all watched and laughed. We are pretty sure he went in to get the rest of the Carrasco's and said "Hurry, you need to come watch these crazy American women try to play badminton. They are hilarious (but in Spanish of course)". Manuel came down and started to play with us too.
Strike 1, 2, 3, etc. |
Cameron served it right into mom's jaw. |
Ileana's dad got a huge kick out of watching. |
Manuel is going to hit the birdie. |
Nice form Cameron. |
After badminton we played Cosmic Football but that wasn't very fun. Then the kids played a paddle game and then went to climb in the trees. We went back inside where Cameron took a much needed shower. He was filthy...again!! He is all boy.
We had dinner. Todd made a traditional type Chinese dinner with dumplings and Boudza which is steamed buns stuffed with pork. Mom didn't like any of it and Aunt Sharon only liked the dumplings. At least they both tried it.
After dinner there was more Rock Band and Just Dance action. It was our last night with the super sisters and we are so sad. We are not ready for them to go home. We know they have to go but we don't have to like it.
