Took Cameron to school and then back home. We took our time getting ready. The super sisters got all their stuff packed up. We headed out to walk to Delights for lunch with a friend, Vivi, who was back in town to visit. We walked outside and realized it was raining. We ended up catching a ride with Ileana. She just stopped in quickly to say hi/bye to Vivi and didn't eat with us. After lunch it was still raining so we waited for Mr. Xue to pick us up. He dropped us off at home and then I went to get Cameron from school. Back at home Cameron jumped in the shower and changed. We finished our game of Euchre we started before school (Mom and Aunt Sharon won) and then loaded up to leave. We picked Todd up at work and then headed to Beijing.
It was raining and super foggy/smoggy. You couldn't see very far in front of the van. Mr. Xue would step on the brakes to pass a truck and it kept freaking me out. I was beginning to feel sick. I can't stand driving when we can't see. The roads in China are dangerous enough and then when you throw in little visibility it really freaks me out. The closer we got to Beijing the clearer it was and the rain stopped. We went to the Hungry Horse for dinner. Cameron and mom played Foosball while we waited for our dinner. We ate and then stopped by Jenny Lu's so the super sisters could pick up a few snacks to take on the plane with them.
We were then off to the Beijing Hilton. It is right by the airport. Todd checked them in while we got the luggage. Cameron and I walked them to their room and Todd grabbed a cab to his hotel. He stayed in Beijing for meetings. We said our teary goodbyes and left. I hate goodbyes. We have loved having mom and Aunt Sharon visit and we will missed them terribly.
Back in the van to drive to TEDA. Smooth sailing until we reached the last toll booth. It was much clearer and raining a little. When we got through the toll Mr. Xue got back up to speed and I was on the phone with Todd. All of a sudden we hit flooded road. It slammed us forwarded but all was ok. I'm pretty sure we all almost wet ourselves. A little scary. We continued on and I was wrapping up my conversation with Todd when all of a sudden I yelled "Holy Shit". I didn't mean to but we hit flooded water again and it scared me to death. Thank God we were in the middle lane and no one else was around. Todd asked why he didn't see it. I was looking out the window too and didn't see that it was flooded. It was raining and it was so dark on those roads. Luckily we were all fine and got home safely at 11:15. Quickly to bed.
