Art Festival

Even though we went to bed at 11:30 Cameron was still up at 5:55 a.m.  Man, this kid can't sleep in.  Up watching cartoons. Mom borrowed some random man's phone on the plane to call me.  When she tried to use my phone she got some man in Rochester Minnesota. She asked him if he was in TEDA, Tianjin.  He asked where that was and she said China.  He said no and told her she would need a lot more numbers to call China.  They were on the plane and ready for take off.  Cameron got ready for school and sent him with Carrasco's.  I went back to sleep for a little bit.

At 10:15 I went down to meet Ileana and her family to go to the Art Festival at school.  Mr. Xue has the day off so I needed to catch a ride with them.  They were loading the van up with luggage so I helped carry some out for them.  When I saw Ileana I said "sad day huh?"  She looked up at me with tears.  This made me get all teary again.  I knew exactly what she was feeling.  Mar said goodbye to Ileana's parents and we all cried.  Her family has to think I'm crazy too.  Loaded up the van and got to school.  Ileana was outside with her dad and I was in the office with her mom and niece.  Her mom looked at me with tears and said "I want to thank you for being with Ileana."  Awww, I hugged her and told her we are here for each other and I will make sure Ileana is ok.  She thanked me again.  I'm all teary eyed typing this because my mom said she was glad I have Ileana too.

Ileana and her dad came in so we all headed to the activity room.  We watched the Kindergarten students sing You are my Sunshine and then we were off to follow our kids to each activity.  I had to say my goodbyes to Ileana's parents and niece.  I hugged them all and got tears...again.  I wished them safe travels and then went to find Cameron.

Cameron looks excited to see me.

The Kindergarten class singing.
The boy sitting next to Cameron reached over and started rubbing Cameron's
head during the song.  Weird.

His first stop was the art display.  They were to find a piece of artwork they liked and sketch it.  Of course, he picked his own.  It was really good.

Cameron's work of art.

Next stop was dance.  About 10 kids out of Cameron's class are in the dance class.  2 of them are boys.  As they each did their routine some boys in Cameron's class were laughing.  They got in trouble for making fun of the kids.  As we walked out Cameron said to me "why were they laughing?  They sure were being rude."  Good boy Cameron.  Those kids were being very rude.

Next stop was drama.  The kids were put into groups and they had to act out, without talking, a 5 stage scene.  Cameron's group did Little Red Riding Hood.  Cameron was the big, bad wolf.  It was kind of funny.
Cameron was happy to be the Big, Bad Wolf.

Last stop was music.  Each student got an instrument to play with the beat.  High School kids were singing.  This section of the festival was by far the best and most fun.  Overall, it was fun to spend the morning with Cameron.
